Community Programs
Knights are called to serve others. Our first principle is Charity – at home with our families and in our communities. When Knights of Columbus members come together they accomplish great things.
Helping Hands
Put your faith into action and help people who are less fortunate in your community. In the spirit of our founder, Blessed Michael J. McGivney, councils lead efforts to assist those most in need. Guidelines for this program are broad and can include forming partnerships with local aid organizations or independently planning unique activities.
Coats for Kids
Councils across North America can purchase new winter coats at a discount to be distributed to the children in need in their local communities. A featured program, Coats for Kids counts for two credits toward the Columbian Award.
Global Wheelchair Mission
Help change the lives of people with disabilities worldwide by having your council donate to the Global Wheelchair Mission. A donation of $150 will buy one wheelchair. Through partnerships, councils can purchase a large container of 280 wheelchairs for their own donation sites.
Habitat for Humanity
Build homes with families in need. Councils are asked to donate a minimum of $1,000 or 200 service hours to Habitat for Humanity projects in their community.
Catholic Citizenship Essay
Encourage youth to become citizens grounded in their faith through creative writing. Open to all qualifying Catholic students. This contest encourages today’s youth to be more connected to their community and their faith.
Disaster Preparedness
Prepare your community before disaster strikes. Councils engage their parish and community in disaster preparedness exercises by organizing trainings, fundraisers and awareness activities.
Free Throw Championship
Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9-14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
Soccer Challenge
Provide an athletic outlet for young people ages 9-14 through a penalty kick competition designed for players to demonstrate their skills.
Hockey Challenge
Provide an athletic outlet for young people ages 10-17 through shooting accuracy on goal competition designed for players to demonstrate their skills.

Our goal is to strengthen men and their families in the Catholic faith. Formation in our faith goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ.
