As you probably noticed the Paint the Barn project was completed this past Saturday, September 23, 2023. Compliments began from parish members driving past and stopping to visit even before we had the ladders put away. While the final numbers aren’t in, we’re way under budget for the paint portion, leaving us with funds for the walking path to the church if approved. Many compliments on the color you picked and voted on in July.
A special thank you on paint day must go to Brother Steve Gaston, not for just supplying most of the ladders and paint gear, plus working his tail off, but for bringing his neighbor and friend Rich Wymore. You’d never know Rich was 79, because he climbed all over the barn doing the greatest portion of the spray painting. He also donated and cut most of the south side new facia. Secondly, thank our new Deputy Grand Knight, Kyle Bunker, for being brave enough to paint the peak on the west side, both coats of white, saving us from renting a lift for $200 for the day.
Other Brother Knights: Faithful Navigator Joe Cardona showed all four workdays helping clean, spray wash, prep, and paint; Sir Knight Steve Gaston, worked more than four days doing prep, spray washing, painting, and repairing damaged siding; Sir Knight Ken Duplex and new transfer Sir Knight Charles Ruth, did most of the white trim; Sir Knight Burt Quijano, Jr. did all the red touch-up work; and Sir Knight Joe James helped with the trim.
Total service hours were about 125 for the project.
Thanks to all for helping!
